8-State Compact Makes Great Lakes Water Use Complicated →

It's a complex issue that could have ripples across the Great Lakes water basin.
The New York Sea Grant's Dave White explained that one Wisconsin County wants to use water from the basin and return it to the system.
It sounds simple, but he said an eight-state compact signed in 2008 restricts how water from the basin can be used.
That means all eight states have to approve the plan before the community can use the water.
